First Look
When grabbing myself an OXVA NeXlim I went for the Power Black option, this design features a sleek black metallic finish with a rubber embossing with an intruiging design on it, this leaves it so that the NeXlim sits nicely in the hand, the rubber grip allowing for comfort during use.
On the rear face of the device there’s more of this rubber embossing, with some very intricate design work on there which does a lot to set the OXVA NeXlim apart from other kits of it’s style. On the face of the device the screen sits in a raised position, with the buttons and airflow slider on either side of the device.
Design & Build Quality
Oxva have always managed to impress us with just how rugged their kits are, from my very first XLIM I’ve had no problems with them, having bounced them off all sorts of surfaces on account of how clumsy I am. The OXVA NeXlim is definitely not an exception to the rule. The metallic construction is sturdy, and has endured a number of drops in my time using it with next to no damage.
The pods, although different to the original XLIM platform are made using the same PCTG plastic, ensuring that you get that same robustness you know and love in the new OXVA NeXlim Coil platform. The NeXlim platform operates on a dual mesh configuration, allowing for increased flavour and vapour production over their Xlim counterparts. There are currently 3 pod resistances available for the NeXlim the strongest being the 0.6Ω (20-40W) for a more RDTL (Restricted Direct to Lung) style draw, 0.8Ω (12-32W) for a good strong MTL (Mouth To Lung) draw and a 1.2Ω (10-25W) for a milder MTL draw profile.
The airflow control slider sits nicely on the device, and provides a range of airflow that befits the selection of pods available, ensuring that each different profile has the perfect amount of airflow going through the device to produce maximum flavour.
The button which controls the OXVA Nexlim sits on the face opposite the airflow slider and is where you’ll control most of the aspects of the Nexlim, allowing control over the kit’s wattage, themes, puff counter and mode settings. The kit comes with a guide to show you how to access all the different bells and whistles available to the NeXlim.
How to use the OXVA NeXlim
- Remove the NeXlim from it’s packaging, ensuring to remove the sticker from the base of the inserted pod.
- Push the button located on the side of the device 5 times quickly to turn it on
- Open the seal located on the side of the pod to access the filling port
- Tilt the device and fill through the port
- Allow the kit to sit for at least 15 minutes if the pod is fresh
- Set the wattage to the desired setting using the button on the side of the Nexlim
- Set the airflow to the desired resistance using the slider
- Inhale to activate the device
Performance
Now it’s finally time to get into the nitty gritty of this review, and see just how well the Nexlim holds up when it comes to the use of the kit!
There are 2 pods in the box, the 0.6Ω pod and the 0.8Ω pod. I started with the 0.6Ω pod and paired it with ELUX’s Double Apple. The device automatically selected my wattage as 38W, this seems high for a pod of this resistance, but I rolled with it and this provides a RDTL hit with a real oomph behind it. It did a fantastic job of highlighting all the different notes of apples both red and green without allowing one to overpower the other, providing a flavourful & warm RDTL draw with plenty of punch.
Next up was the 0.8Ω pod, which I paired with ELUX’s Lemon Peach Passionfruit. Once again I went with what the Nexlim suggesthe wattage which was automatically set at 28W. This provided a warm, potent MTL draw which highlighted the sweet lemon & peach notes of this E-liquid on the inhale and allowed the refreshing passionfruit to shine on the exhale.
Next up to check out would be the battery life scenario, the OXVA NeXlim is packed with 1500mAh, which is more than other pod kits of its size. Through use I can say a full charge from 100% til dead gets me about a full days use whilst using the 0.6Ω pod at 38W. When it comes to charging time, thanks to the USB Type-C 2A charging a full charge takes about 45 minutes. This makes sure that you’re never caught short whilst using the OXVA NeXlim.
Conclusion
This is another top of the line pod kit from OXVA, who haven’t failed in producing fantastic hardware since we added them to our lineup last year. If you want to read up more on the NeXlim, where better to check than OXVA’s own website here.
